FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Starlink & connectivity

Can you install Starlink and look after it afterwards?

Yes. We install and configure Starlink Maritime, and manage everything the system needs afterwards: checks, troubleshooting and upgrades.

Which Starlink plan do I need for my boat?

It depends on your vessel's size, how you use it and where you sail. We advise you on the right plan.

Does Starlink work at sea or only on the coast?

Coastal waters are covered. Further offshore, you may need an additional option or a different plan. We advise you on the right one for your use.

Will I stay online offshore?

We combine satellite and 5G solutions to keep you online in port, along the coast and offshore. Coverage depends on your Starlink service plan and on the 5G coverage available in each area.

Can I use Starlink while underway?

Yes. For reliable use underway we recommend the Starlink Performance kit, designed for use in motion.

Which dish is right for my yacht?

Starlink Mini, Standard or Performance, depending on your vessel's size, power supply and use.

Will I have Wi-Fi all over the boat?

We design the onboard network with access points so every area of the vessel is covered.

Navigation

Can you upgrade my chartplotter or radar?

Yes. We install and integrate chartplotters, radar, autopilots and sensors from Raymarine, Garmin, Simrad and B&G, and we check compatibility with your existing equipment first.

Can I keep my existing equipment if I upgrade my chartplotter?

Often some of it, yes. We check what is compatible with the new system and what needs replacing.

Can I add a new radar to my current electronics?

Usually, but modern radars are rarely plug-and-play on older systems. We review your onboard network first.

What is NMEA 2000?

The standard network that connects your navigation electronics, making it easier to add and integrate new equipment.

Audio

Can I stream music on board from my phone?

Yes. We install zoned sound systems with wireless streaming (AirPlay), including Bose systems, and offer remote assistance.

Can I have different music in different areas of the yacht?

Yes. We design zoned sound systems so each area can be controlled separately.

Is the equipment suitable for outdoor areas on board?

We install marine-grade speakers and amplifiers designed for the marine environment.

CCTV & alarms

Can I see my cameras when I'm away from the boat?

Yes. Our CCTV systems let you view your cameras from your phone, wherever you are.

How does the energy alarm work?

It monitors shore power, battery charging and voltage around the clock. If something fails, you receive an SMS and a phone call. It is set up by SMS or app.

What happens if my yacht loses power while I'm away?

Our energy alarm sends you an SMS and a call if shore power or battery charging fails.

Can the alarm be configured remotely?

Yes, by SMS or app.

Power

Can you convert my batteries to lithium?

Yes. A lithium conversion is more than replacing batteries: we check your charger, solar controller and alternator so the whole system charges safely. We also install solar panels, inverters and chargers from brands such as Victron Energy and Mastervolt.

Why does a lithium system need a BMS?

The BMS protects the batteries. We design the installation so a BMS shutdown does not damage your alternator or electronics.

Do I need a new charger?

Often. Chargers designed for lead-acid batteries do not charge lithium correctly. We check yours and advise.

Quotes & visits

How do I get a quote?

Where do you work, and how quickly do you reply?

We are based in Palma de Mallorca and work across Mallorca, the Balearic Islands and Europe, including Italy and France. We reply to every enquiry within 24 hours, and visits are scheduled according to urgency, severity and where the vessel is.
